Hey suckers!
Over two years since Triumph And Beyond was released. Feels like only a few weeks ago, but it’s time for a new one. Something better, longer, more diverse, and something that can take us further.
Our beastly drummer that is Ash has taken on the seriously big challenge of sitting in the recording chair for this album. This is exciting for us, as we can chill in the home studio, be comfortable, have a couple of drinks & not be concerned about having to rush to get it all done within the deadline time. We have spent our recording budget (less actually) on buying our own recording gear and are stoked about that. Ash will put something together later to expand on the studio gear and recording process.
The only thing not being recorded at home, is drums, and that begins THIS WEEK in Poonshead Studios Perth. Ash has been rehearsing like crazy, and is sounding solid as hell, ready to smash through the tracks in around 4 days. We’ll be posting some pics and videos right here.
This time around we have almost an hour of material. That’s about 12 songs, all over 5mins in length, one 12min epic, and a few shorter acoustic tracks. They generally sound a lot heavier than anything we’ve done before, but also very melodic, heaps of harmonies, varying vocal styles, and plenty of crazy ideas. Everyone has had input into the songwriting, with Jesse providing some killer keyboard oriented stuff, Jim peer pressuring us into using some death/slam (!!) and even the new (yet very old) Dysie has thrown in a heap of riffs. Totally pumped!
The lyrical concept is based upon the earth’s fury at the human race and the dominating wrath of nature that ensues. Killer artwork done by Chris Hancock again. There is an album title, but we’ll announce that later!
We expect the album to be released in July/August, just in time for an Australian tour. Between now and then we’ll be working our butts off trying to score international interest, labels and live opportunities. Wanna help us out? Spread the word of CTT, tell your friends, tell your Grannys, tell labels and festivals, tell your local promoter, and if you have any relevant contacts be sure to let us know!
We’ve got a new site at www.claimthethrone.com with a mailing list and forum & plenty of presence around the web, so be sure to find us on Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, Soundcloud, YouTube, Instagram, Pintrest, Reverbnation, JJJ Unearthed, and all those nerdy places. We’ll be posting studio updates at Tumblr which you can also add to your RSS feeds to keep up to date with all the latest on the new album.
Our merch store is still cranking at bigcartel.com/claimthethrone, with plenty of apparel, including new red g-strings and baby bibs! Triumph And Beyond & Aletales are sold out, but you can get digital downloads at bandcamp.com/claimthethrone, including pics, lyrics, tabs & song notes.
That’s about it for now, thanks to everyone for the support all these years and helping us get to where we are today!
Your allies,
Claim The Throne
